A home inspection can save you time and money when buying a new home, but did you know you should have them done periodically as well?
In this article we’ll look at different circumstances when you should consider having a home inspection and why.
You can also check out this quick tip video I’ve made for navigating your next home inspection easily.
So, when should you get a Home Inspection?
If you are a new home owner – even if it is brand new and you’re the first owner.
Every year if you have a crawl space.
Every 5 years if you don’t have a crawl space.
For condos, only an in-unit inspection is required every so often.
To make the most of your home inspection, you should really be there for it. Walk through with your professional home inspector and ask questions on anything unclear. Generally, you can expect a home inspection to take between 1-3 hours.
It can be common during a home inspection for the inspector to “talk soft and write hard”. Be sure you read the report carefully to know exactly what any potential issues are.
I suggest getting a few quotes before you decide which home inspection company to go with. Home inspection cost can vary depending on age, size and location of your home. Not all home inspectors are created equally, so if you’re unsure send me a quick email and I will forward you some that I personally recommend.
